There are many people
who dream of being able to play great guitar rifts to impress friends
or leave their own legacy.
Everyone has some music ability and learning to play the guitar is an
easy way to bring that ability out.
You do not have to worry about music theory or a music teacher trying
to tell you the right way to play.
The numerous guitar lessons and courses available online provide lots
of ways for you to develop your own style and at least learn the basics.
As with most things, it
is better to start with beginner guitar lessons before trying to learn
advanced skills.
All good beginner guitar courses will cover a range of basic things and
include:
- Learn Basic Music
Theory & Sight Reading.
- Learning Guitar Chords , Scales, Modes, Arpeggios. - Learning about Ear Training
Some courses can include
a lot of music theory and delve into the history and styles of great
guitar players.
These are generally more advanced courses and not quite as much fun to
learn. If you have a favorite guitar player and want to emulate their
style then it may be worth considering those types of courses.
However, it is generally advisable to keep guitar learning fun and so
most beginner lessons will not include that side of things.
Another way to learn to
play guitar is through video guitar lessons. Due to the growth of video
sharing sites and technology in general, it has become easier to upload
videos and share them with others.
This has seen a large growth in the number of people learning how to
play the guitar online from only using videos.
A series of videos can cover all the basic elements as well as the more
advanced elements.
They can also include videos on different styles and genres of music
and keep you entertained at the same time.
As you learn more about
playing the guitar, you will also discover how the quality of guitar
can affect the sound.
This does not mean you should rush out and buy an expensive model, but
it does mean you should look at using good quality guitars as opposed
to the cheapest one available.
If you only recently got a guitar then it will be fine to use as you
may not like any of the lessons.
However, as you progress and develop skills you will learn which type
of guitar is right for you.
This could be due to the style of music you want to play or the type of
music you want to play.
The main thing to
remember is guitar playing should be fun and it is much easier to learn
when you enjoy what you are doing.
If you want to learn to play guitar you will need to make some tough
choices.
One of the toughest choices could be dedicating time to practice every
day.
This could be as little as 30 minutes per day.
The important thing is that it is regular.
The more you practice, the better the chances are of you improving your
guitar playing skills.
If you don't practice, it will be very difficult to succeed.
guitarelements's Mission
& Goal
Hello Players,
guitar lessons at it's best. Seeing is believing - You have never seen
any instructional guitar lesson liked this.
I
want to thank you for all your support and feedback, which is helping
us, giving us direction how to serve you better, to refine and bring
out the best of guitarelements software.
We
have been teaching guitar lessons for more than 20 years, mostly to
ours friends and neighbors where ever we lived in the last 30 years.
So many parents of oursstudentshaving
issues as when their kids at home, they do not know if their kid know
what to do, what to practice, are they doing it right or wrong? etc...
This
is bothering me so much, as I really want to help the kids, but i do
not have the time to help them all. This also applied to adults
students who we teached.
So in
2003, I came up with an idea, to create a software to replace me, so my
students can have me anytime they want or need me to help them, teach
and guide them to learn playing the guitar.
Me and my wife Angela and my 2 sons Jonathan Zeppelin Vuong &
Daniel Victor Vuong, together we start this project.
Thanks to my 2 sons, Daniel in 9th grade and Jonathan in 11 grade
giving idea to pick out thedomain
namefor
the site, Jonathon came up with guitarelements.com
They
both help me to create the site by searching for the best software for
this project, as they are searching for me, I use power point to create
my first page to play a C major scale and displayed on the screen.
But
the lessons getting more complex and power point can not handle as it
create huge file sizes, and unable to upload it to the server.
My 2 sons came up with Flash MX from Macro-media, I start learning theapplication.
I wasunemployedat
this time, Angela was working at Fountain Vally Music in Huntington
Beach, doing private and group lessons there for more than 5 years.
I found out it is too much and almost impossible for me to learn Flash
because I am not going to be able to do my musicwork.
I then posted on Flash Macro-media forums looking for freelance Flash
programmer. Few days after I found one.
He is amazing and extremely smart, but have no clue and skills in music
at all.
But
I like his intelligence and logic, so i asked him for a demo. I asked
him to created me a program which can play 7 notes & displayed
the
notes as it played on the screen with sounds. He came back 1/2 hour
later and show me the demo.
I was convince and decided to hire him. He charge me $60.00 an hour to
be working with guitarelements - this is 2003.
I start teaching him basic music theory, how the guitar works ... how
many strings the guitar has....
Thousand of hours back and forth with him by emails, 2 years later -
look at what we have created.
The most advance, innovative way to teach and learn guitar lessons.
